Thank God for folks willing to take a stand and call wrong that which is wrong. It doesn't matter if it's an addiction, adultery, greed, strife and envy, homosexuality, whatever - SIN is SIN and not only is the refusal of people to seek forgiveness through the shed blood of…

This song was not written with a hateful heart but out of compassion for Souls. Everyone needs to make thier own choice this song was written to shine light on a truth that is clearly covered in Gods word.

Lewis and Lewis you know this will certainly cause the GLBT community to feel welcome to the Christian community...NOT...this sort of hatred will continue causing them to be pushed out...this is pure ignorance...i think your time would be better spent by singing about the salvation, love and forgiveness Jesus offers…

Parker Homecoming a Hit

Posted on 03/07 at 10:36 PM

Front Row Follies had his to say:

If you've never been to the Parker Homecoming before, please mark your calendar now for the first Friday and Saturday next March. Danny and Sue Parker work so hard to make this a success, and their work pays off...the artist circle seats sell out within weeks of going on sale at the Harvesters Reunion in the fall, and both nights are packed every year. The Harvesters and Ivan Parker appear both nights, so if you don't hear your favorite song on Friday, you can be pretty sure they'll get to it on Saturday. They've each just released a new project, so we heard plenty of new music, and it was all great! The Harvesters' new CD is called "Moving Forward," and they truly are! Danny, Allen and Jim have been joined by a fantastic young tenor, Steven Wall, and he really adds a lot to their sound. He's a songwriter, too, and they included two of his on the new CD, "There He'll Be" and "In His Silence." If you absolutely force me to choose a favorite from the new project, "In His Silence" would be it...but please don't force me, because they're all so good! Ivan's new CD, "That Was Then, This Is Now," is a little different; it includes six new songs and six that you already know, even though he's given some of them fresh arrangements. Ivan only sang a few of the songs from this CD; he had so many requests to try to fit in that, even over two nights, there just wasn't enough time to include everything. He did sing "Thank You" both nights, because he said Bill Gaither brought that song to his attention, and it made him think of his mother; since Miss Katie was sitting right up front, of course he had to sing it for her! The audience roared when Ivan sang Gaither Homecoming favorites like "Haven of Rest," and he did his Jake Hess impression, by request, on Saturday night. Of course, you already know what brought the house down both nights..."Midnight Cry" was, by far, the highlight of each evening.

A Visit from Ernie Hasse and Signature Sound

Posted on 03/07 at 09:58 PM

Ernie Hasse and Signature Sound recently visited Focus on the Family.

Today's broadcast will have you tapping your foot and humming along to some great southern gospel music! Listen in to a recent Focus on the Family staff chapel service featuring musical guests Ernie Haase & Signature Sound. You'll enjoy a few laughs, too -- thanks to an amusing interchange between Dr. Dobson and the group during an impromptu onstage interview.

"Since [Jesus is] invisible, we want to touch as many people as we can and make Him visible through our bodies and through our gifts, and our gifts happen to be singing and wearing weird clothes." -- Ernie Haase

Global Gospel Radio- Not Giving Up -Still Going Strong

Posted on 03/06 at 04:03 PM

Global Gospel Radio

Okay Folks, Global Gospel Radio is not going anywhere. I, Betty Tilley will be taking care of the operations and the upkeep of the station until Brother Randy Renigar gets back on his feet. I know the Lord is going to bless him very soon.

Wow, I did not know just how much is involved in an internet radio station. Uploading music, reviewing music etc. Do not worry I was trained by the best, Brother Randy Renigar.

NQC Beware

Posted on 03/06 at 03:45 PM

Allen Kendall offers some suggestions to the NQC Board:

Much has been said about certain top acts that are not (and some that are still not) appearing on Quartet Convention this year. It's certainly no easy task to replace folks like the Gaither Vocal Band, Signature Sound, The Isaacs, and The Martins, with the hopes of still being able to pack a 20,000 seat auditorium.

Wish I Could Have Been There

Posted on 03/06 at 03:41 PM

Danny Jones blogs about the Kingsmen's 50th Anniversary Concert:

As I write this, I'm sitting in the Memorial Auditorium in Chattanooga, Tennessee. About 150 feet in front me is a massive stage that is being prepped for another concert - but this is not just your typical concert. Tonight, the Kingsmen celebrate 50 years and from my vantage point, I see Mark Trammell, Tim Surrett, Tim Lovelace, Jerry Martin, Greg Fox, Squire Parsons, Bryan Hutson, Wayne Maynard, Johnny Parrack, Ray Reese, Tony Peace, Chris Collins, Andrew Ishee, Garry Sheppard and many others. They're running over a few songs, and in the words of Squire, "man, we sang those songs high back then, didn't we?" (For you musicians out there, you humorously realize that song keys are being dropped like bombs right now!)

Duane Allen Comments on EHSSQ

Posted on 03/02 at 06:04 PM

Duane Allen of the Oak Ridge Boys commented on the success of Ernie Haase and Signature Sound on the ORB Message Boards (you must be a member to read these boards). He contributed their success to "coming along at the right time, with all of the right kind of support that they need." Part of that support is their association with Bill Gaither and the Homecoming series. Allen also sees Gaither as having done more for southern gospel music than anyone in recent years. He attributes Gaither with reviving old careers and introducing new acts.

One of the more interesting things to note was Allen's statement that he sees, "a lot of what we were trying to do, years ago, in them and I think tht they are gonna do just great." It has been apparent to many people that EHSSQ are reminiscent of several older groups in their energetic style and presentation. EHSSQ's innovation has been compared to past groups of Blackwood Brothers, Statesmen Quartet, JD Sumner and The Stamps as well as the Oak Ridge Boys. Often times these statements are met with harsh disapproval of their opponents but Allen's statement seems to justify the comparison.

Allen also talks a little bit about the jealousies that seem to be prevalent within gospel music. This seems to coincide with the article by Rick Hendrix on SoGospelNews this month. It is interesting to note however, that Allen sees none of this jealousy when working with Gaither.

Seems we can learn a lot from Gaither.

Naomi & The Segos Get a New Home

Posted on 03/02 at 03:07 PM

Naomi and the Segos updated their website. Other than a different color choice and a new picture, though, it pretty much looks the same. Guess paint and wallpaper is all that was done in the remodeling.

Roger Bennett In Need of Prayer

Posted on 03/01 at 01:19 AM

Debbie Bennett, released the following information on their blog:

It has been a LONG few days. Roger is not doing well at the moment, and has a variety of complications. We knew when he was admitted that he was a bit confused, and that his oxygen levels were low, in addition to having shingles and the accompanying pain. After having many tests performed while inpatient, we have now determined that he has pneumonia (growing 3 different types of bacteria); meningitis (swelling of the lining of the brain); encephalitis (swelling of the brain itself); and an occurrence of leukemia cells in a spot on his head. Whew! I am hoping it sounds worse than it is....

We are still awaiting test results from the latest lumbar puncture (spinal tap) to determine whether the memory problems, weakness, and balance issues are due solely to the virus in the spinal/brain areas, or whether the leukemia disease is involved. It has been so difficult to watch his condition the past few days. He is definitely not the Roger we all know and love. I am praying for the best-case scenario: that the problems are caused by the virus alone, and treatments will bring him back to his "normal" self. He began radiation treatments today on the spot that showed the leukemia cells (he now has an interesting 'tattoo' on his head). Best-case scenario there is that those were residual cells that did not get killed off during the chemo/transplant. If that is the case, and it is an isolated spot, then the radiation will take care of that. Again, tests are pending.
