Lewis and Lewis you know this will certainly cause the GLBT community to feel welcome to the Christian community...NOT...this sort of hatred will continue causing them to be pushed out...this is pure ignorance...i think your time would be better spent by singing about the salvation, love and forgiveness Jesus offers…

Legacy Five’s New Projects In The Works

Posted on 04/11 at 12:26 AM

Janine asks "I recently attended one of your concerts and Tim Parton sang a song at the end that really ministered to me... I went to the table afterward and you didn't have it on a CD... is that song going to be available any time soon?

Thanks for the question, Janine... the song you're referring to is "God's Been Good" and we're glad to inform you that it is the title cut of our upcoming Daywind CD release. Tim does a fantastic job of sharing his heart on this touching song and we're expecting it to be very well received.

We're putting the finishing touches on this new project and we're hopeful we'll be able to debut it at the Memorial Day Celebration. The CD is produced by Steve Mauldin and it features great new songs from the pen of Dianne Wilkinson, Jerry Kelso, and other prolific writers.

There is also a very special song written by Jim Brady of the Booth Brothers titled "Hello After Goodbye" that he penned just after Roger Bennett's funeral service... it was inspired by the statement made by Roger's pastor Phil Hoskins that "we would be with Roger far longer than we would be without him," referring to our promised reunion in heaven. This ballad is going to be the most important song we've sung since saying goodbye to our beloved friend in March of 2007.

We're also working on a new book titled "Hello After Goodbye" that will be an intimate glimpse of how it impacted our lives to observe Roger's courageous battle with leukemia. Debbie is writing the foreword and all the Legacy Five guys will share our favorite stories of being with Roger in those final years. We hope to have it ready by Celebration also.

There's actually one more new release we're hoping to have ready for Memorial Day, a brand new DVD titled "Legacy Five... Live at the White House"... the White House Theatre in Branson, MO, that is... not the one where the President lives in Washington D.C.! Legacy Five recently taped their "Magnificent Gospel Showcase" TV program and we're making that performance available to you now on this special DVD release.

As you can see, we're really busy trying to get all these new projects ready for you

THE GOSPEL MUSIC WAS GOOD.. THE RIBS WERE GREAT!

Posted on 04/10 at 11:34 PM

Chuck Peters of The Southern Gospel Reporter recently visited with and ate at Tony Gore's Restaurant. Here is his report:

Tony Gore asked me.. "How is the food?" I told him I would let him know tomorrow. Tony didn't know, at the time,.. I was talking about doing a review of his Smoky Mountain BBQ & Grill here in the SG Show Prep. In fact Tony probably didn't know I was in the restaurant.. until after I left.. He was up to his elbows in customers.. but that's a good problem to have.

I am in Pigeon Forge (Tn) this week on business.. and decided last night would be a good time to drive up the four lane a few miles and visit Tony Gore's Smoky Mountain BBQ & Grill. When I arrived.. it looked like a typical Tuesday night at any restaurant.. two cars in the parking lot. I appreciated being able to park right up next to the front door.

Once inside,.. I found that the establishment overflowed with down home, friendly, Christian hospitality. The restaurant has a warm feel.. kinda like you're having dinner at your mom's house. Southern Gospel music playing in the eatery was a welcome background.. and one that is rare these days. The waitress was very nice as she told me about the daily special. It was something like stuffed peppers.. I think. I wasn't paying too much attention. After all.. this is a BBQ place.. I gotta have ribs!

My order of a 1/2 rack of baby backs, french fries, cole slaw and fried yeast roll.. arrived promptly.. and wow! These are some good ribs.. I should know, I have eaten the best! I highly recommend TG's ribs.. they will compare to any you might have sampled.. anywhere! Something special I noticed.. was a slight difference in the french fries.. Not sure what it is.. but the fries had a slight sweet flavor.. almost like the yeast roll. Maybe they deep fry them together. Yes I said fried yeast rolls.. these alone may well be worth the trip to Tony's.

The night ended up being not so typical.. That cozy little empty restaurant quickly became a busy, busy place.. when two church buses rolled into the parking lot. I have a feeling the folks at Tony Gore's Smoky Mountain BBQ & Grill are used to those "bus load rushes".. Gore got on the phone.. and had reinforcement waiters and watresses there in 10 minutes!

Bottom line.. if you get anywhere near 1818 Winfield Dunn Parkway (Hwy 66) in Sevierville, Tn.. don't miss your chance to dine with Tony Gore!

Michael English, The Prodigal Returns to The Road

Posted on 04/05 at 02:19 PM

There is a great interview on Michael English concerning his return to the road and his new release, The Prodigal.

"It doesn't get much better than being on the stage and singing a song and feeling the emotions that go through you and knowing that you're at the right place at the right time, as far as God is concerned," he said.

English started out with the Singing Samaritans, a Southern Gospel group that included members of his family. Throughout the '70s, he sang with the Samaritans, with whom he would stay until the mid-'80s, except for short stints with the Happy Goodmans and the Couriers. He joined one of Southern Gospel's most lasting and influential groups, the Gaither Vocal Band in 1984.

Tornado Slams Church of Prophet’s Paul Jackson

Posted on 04/04 at 03:13 PM

Paul Jackson of the Prophets is reporting on the damage caused to his church by a tornado that hit last night.

"The powerful tornado that hit Little Rock last night, blew right up Mississippi Avenue and slammed into The Highlands Church! Our educational building took a direct hit. Our Worship Center escaped with only minor damage. However, our other main building, the site of our office suite, kitchen, fellowship hall and an entire educational floor, experienced major damages."
