The fact that an opinion has been widely held is no evidence whatever that it is not utterly absurd; indeed in view of the silliness of the majority of mankind, a widespread belief is more likely to be foolish than sensible.

ITunes to Offer DRM-free Premium MusicPosted on Apr 02, 2007 - 03:25 PM
ITunes announced today that they will be offering DRM-free premium music. Read why MusicScribe thinks this is a good idea. Personally, I like it, but I can hear a few people in the background moaning and groaning that somewhere people are distributing illegal copies of SG music. DRM adds so much hassle that it ultimately drives millions of otherwise honest people to engage in illegal activity. Take DRM away, and they have no reason to act outside the law.
There will always be people who don't respect copyrights. Removing DRM won't turn ordinarily dishonest people into honest people, but it will take away the urge to steal rather than pay if your primary reason for stealing is an annoyance with DRM.
